American book collection goes to the National Defence University

A collection of 11,000 English language books concerning military subjects, were given by US ambassador, Victor Ashe, to the Warsaw National Defence University (AON). The ceremony took place on 21st May. Most books were published after 1980. They cover military and security matters, history, military history and information technology topics.

They include theories of command and military trade. The collection also includes fiction. 2,000 volumes are currently registered, the whole collection should be catalogued by the end of the year.
The US ambassador expressed his satisfaction at being able to pass the 11,000 volumes from Warrior Preparation Center in Kaiserslautern, the US air force base. He expressed his hope that these books would help educate future officers.

Rector-commander of AON, Janusz Krecikij emphasised that the ceremony was merely a symbolic gesture because the university had already received the books. Krecikij noted that the books shed new light on national security, military and defence issues and noted that they would be useful studying resources. AKN
