Good prospects for US visa abolition for Poles

The Poles travel to the US more often to make shopping and less and less to take illegal employment, according to the minister of foreign affairs Radoslaw Sikorski. He has said here that the issue of US visa abolition for Poles was "on the right track".

"We do not rule out signing an agreement with the US on the security of passport documents and on cooperation in fighting terrorism and this will encourage a decision on visa abolition," Sikorski said replying to questions at a press conference.
He declared he was convinced that the visa issue was on the right track. "As recently as a few years ago the percentage of visa refusals was around 50, even a dozen-odd months ago it stood at over 20 pc, while now it reaches only 14 pc," the minister argued.

"Our citizens have become more US law-abiding, while the US changed its criteria for visa abolition to maximum 10 pc of refusals from 3 pc previously. Increasingly the Poles travel there to make shopping and not to some illegal work," Sikorski remarked. JH
